Fashion’s most anticipated event in South Africa was here, and I feel blessed to be based in the city that hosts it! My perspective on the Durban July completely transformed after witnessing South Africa’s beloved pop-superstar, Tyla, showcasing her custom-made Balmain look at this year’s MET Gala. Seeing her shine at such a prestigious event inspired me to treat our celebrated Durban July like our very own MET Gala.
My intention this year was to attend the Durban July and create two looks to enter into the Raceday Fashion Competitions. Although my plan didn’t materialise as hoped, prioritising my health has left me feeling better and stronger.
I want to shine a light on the winners of this year’s Raceday Fashion Competitions – congratulations and well done! You’ve made Fashion proud. Additionally, let’s celebrate the above stunning creations by our more-established local designers. Your work is truly remarkable!
